1987 Founded PharMingen Company.
2002 Established BioLegend, Inc. and serves as the company’s founder, president and CEO.
2010 Established a base at the National Taiwan University Incubation Center (comprising more than 20 individuals).
2019 Sponsored the internationally renowned “Keystone 2019 International Immunology Conference” in Taiwan, enhancing the visibility of Taiwan’s immunology in the international scientific community.
2020 Completed the second building in Zhubei Biomedical Park, and Baijin Company officially moved in and will be able to host about150 people in Taiwan. As of Jan. 2024, we have about 75 employees.
2022 A donation of US$25 million was made to the University of California San Diego through the Laygend Foundation to support the Department of Bioengineering of the University of California, San Diego (UCSD). In homage to Academician Chien Hsun Chien (the distinguished professor of UCSD). The university renamed the department as the “Shu Chien-Gene Lay Department of Bioengineering.”
2023 A donation $100 million to Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, which established The Gene Lay Institute of Immunology and Inflammation. In bringing together leading experts and scientists, this center aims to develop new immunotherapies and conduct research on immune-mediated diseases, aging and cancer.
2024 has been appointed to the Scripps Research Board of Directors.
